IFF Sustainability Seminar at Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2024
In cooperation with the City of Lahti, Finland, the International Floorball Federation (IFF) will organise a sustainability seminar in conjunction with the Women’s U19 World Floorball Championships 2024 on 8 May. The seminar is part of the GAMES project, aiming to increase awareness and mitigation of climate change in sport.
As the European Green Capital of 2021, Lahti’s ambitious climate-neutrality target for 2025 – 10 years ahead of Finland’s national target – makes it the perfect city to be hosting IFF competition and a sustainability seminar.
The programme will open with Tero Kalsta, Sales Coordinator at the IFF and developer of the IFF sustainability programme’s environmental topics, discussing what sports can do for environmental sustainability, and what floorball is doing today regarding this.
Elina Ojala, environmental director for the City of Lahti, will then discuss sustainability in Lahti as a host city, before executive director of the Finnish Floorball Federation Pekka Ilmivalta assesses the federation’s current sustainability landscape.
Following a discussion based around sustainability and sponsorship in sport, the seminar will conclude with Tiberio Daddi, associate professor at the Institute of Management at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and GAMES project lead, will provide an overview of the GAMES project and explain its key findings so far.
The Finnish Floorball Federation has even offered all seminar participants the opportunity to attend the opening match of the tournament for the Finnish women’s U19 national team (including post-match insight brief by team staff).
The event is free to register for here.
